The N54 is an air-to-air platform — factory intercooler behind the bumper, charge pipes bridging to the chassis — and the stock core is sized for the ~8 psi the car shipped with. This larger bar-and-plate front-mount drops charge temps where the factory core saturates: back-to-back pulls, hot days, ethanol boost. Direct swap, no trimming.
